Hooray! Bodnant Welsh Food Centre had their official opening on Friday 1st Match, St David's Day, followed by a launch weekend involving local producers sampling a great range of local products, everything from Chilly Cow ice cream to Mostyn Kitchen Garden's Chutneys. It was nice to be asked to be part of their opening and always good to see people you know. Judith from Judith Bond Cakes from Llandudno was there and I also chatted to the Headmaster of San Sior school, Ian, who provided me with honey last year for our award winning honey cream cheese. Hopefully it won't be too long until they have their next batch. Some of the children from San SIor school were also delivering their school eggs. Apparently, the school is the only commercial producer of eggs in the UK and have over 200 chickens, along with many reptiles. A fabulous entrepreneurial school.
Yesterday was also a chance for me to sample my Penderyn Whisky cream cheese which seemed to go down very well indeed. I had a few comments about how unusual it was - cream cheese with a subtle taste of Penderyn Whisky, spread on warm barra brith (literally “mottled bread”) is delicious.
For those foodies out there go visit Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, grab a nice coffee, enjoy a hand stretched pizza or Chilly Cow ice cream and take a look round the Farm Shop..you won't be disappointed!
